CEO of the biggest record label in Ghana, Zylofon Media announced on Sunday, 21 July 2018 that, Ghanaian musician Akoo Nana real name William Ato Ankrah has been proposed a management deal with the label and will be signed to the label for a three year deal.

Many Ghanaians seem to have issues with the deal to the extend others question why Akoo Nana and not any other artist. Some Ghanaians who also didn’t understand the deal or what CEO of Zylofon Media stated got confused and many thoughts baffle.

Communication Director of Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has reacted to stories making rounds with regards to Zylofon signing a three year deal with Akoo Nana on the label.

Speaking on Zylofon FM, Asamoah-Baidoo said Zylofon Media CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah’s statement on Akoo Nana’s signing was misinterpreted by many.

He stated that, Zylofon Music’s three-year deal with Akoo Nana was nothing but a proposed Management deal which has not even been concluded yet.

“Our CEO Nana Appiah Mensah’s deal was very emphatic but a lot of people didn’t take notice of it. He said Zylofon Music after some deliberations are lending Akoo Nana a three-year management deal. The catch word here is lending, which is proposing or granting Akoo Nana a three-year deal. So officially, Akoo Nana has not been signed to Zylofon Music yet. A proposal has been thrown to Akoo Nana now, based on those decisions that were made. When the acceptance comes in that’s when we can consider it as a done deal and really agree on the terms and conditions. There’s a different between a record deal and a management deal. Management deal comprises of only taking care of the artiste’s business, ensuring that you have gigs to play and your publicity is our there that’s it. But when it comes to Record deal, it includes recording, promotion, publicity and taking care of the artiste. And what the CEO said was a recording deal and as to if Akoo Nana will agree to accept it is also a different issue.” He said on Zylofon FM.

According to Asamoah-Baidoo, the types of music deals come with different benefits concerning which deal the artiste and the label agree to.
