Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay has shared her story with the youth of Ghana at this year’s International Youth Empowerment Summit 2018.

The 4th edition of the International Youth Empowerment Summit saw light with the likes of  Ohene Yere Gifty Anti, Bishop O.A Bernard, Frank Ofosu Appiah, and Deloris Frimpong Manso(Delay).

Tv and radio personality, Delay shared her journey to the top giving detailed account of the hustle she had to go through with her sister who has always been by her side. After her aunty’s husband had failed to tolerate the unusual persona of the ‘Cocoa Brown’ producer, he kicked her out and she had no option than to seek comfort at a mechanic shop in Tema which later became her new home.

Around 2003 I was staying with my aunty at Tema and I had a little argument with her and her husband thought I was a bit difficult to control so they threw my sister and I out of the house at the age of 21,” she told the audience.

Delay made shocking revelations on how she had to travel to Nkawkaw upon receiving a call that her mother was sick. To what seemed like a stormy moment, the renowned Tv presenter had to work at a Kumasi Based radio station hence was forced to time shift after work and sleep by her mum’s side at the hospital, not because she had to, but because she had nowhere to sleep.

She moved to the capital after losing her mum to an ailment she didn’t mention. Here at the capital she went back to her mechanic shop at Tema with her other siblings. Life really gave the actress lime and it got to a point where they had to beg for food to eat.

Now a famous presenter, she revealed she never gave up on her dream. She revealed that she worked at Adom Fm on the night shift where she met Kwabena Kwakye of Oman Fm and that was her turning point in life.

Delay revealed that she auditioned for the reality show “Prezenters Guide” in 2007 and was hired by Oman FM that year. Miss Frimpong-Manson added that she later got replaced on Onie TV show which aired on TV3 after just 8 episodes because the producers had refused to pay her what is due.

She added that though people insulted her that she was ugly, and unfit for shows since she was bush, she doesn’t believe that she was indeed bush but she blames poverty.
