Few hours for the All Africa Music Awards to begin on Wednesday in Ghana, Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku is assuring Ghanaians that the planning committee has received the needed funds.
Earlier posts and reports suggested that organization of this year’s event was in limbo due to Government’s inability to provide funds.
The minister was however not pleased with the reports and on that gave cheeky answers to journalists who tried to find out if the necessary funds have been released as she claims. In an interview with a Multimedia Journalist, the sector minister refused to give answers to the questions which aimed at digging the truth.
When asked if she as a Minister can confirm that the necessary funds have been released, she simply answered ‘Of course’.
Speaking to Andy Dosty, host of Daybreak Hitz, the minister refused to disclose the cost of hosting the All African Music Awards in Ghana. She described the question Andy Dosty posed on the budget for the event as Lame.
“I don’t think it’s appropriate, its like asking D-Black, ‘how did we give you for Kundum festival’, that’s so lame. Focus on the celebration”, she told Andy Dosty.
A lot of people, including entertainment critic, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo have reacted differently to the minister’s comment and answer to Andy Dosty question.
According to Arnold, he is surprised the minister, Catherine Afeku denied us our civic rights as tax payers, classifying her answer to the relevant question as ‘lame’.
