APPEAL FOR FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF SPOT- IMPROVEMENT OF SECTION OF KANDIA-BUOTI ROAD
An elder of Kandia says,’ Every external support or development gets to a community by road.’
I am writing on behalf of the members of the Kandia community and users of the Buoti-Kandia-Kusali-Kunkorgu-Gwollu road to appeal for funds to complete the construction of a temporary culvert over the Sinaluku stream. About four years ago, one of the culverts on the Kandia-Buoti road collapsed following torrential rains. The collapsed culvert has rendered the Kandia-Buoti road impassable for motorists and other road users. While we wait for government’s intervention to fix the culvert, members of the Kandia community have regularly embarked upon spot improvement of portions of the Kusali-Kandia-Buoti road, including the section of the collapsed culvert.
This year, the Kandia community decided to construct a temporary culvert at where the culvert collapsed four years ago; to alleviate the suffering travellers go through while using the road. So far, the community members have made the following contributions towards the project:

  1. Carted several trips of boulders to erect a flow over embankment on the Sinaluku stream
  2. The community has procured 20 bags of cement to reinforce the boulders with concrete.
  3. In addition, the community will procure 10 tractor trips of sand and 2 trips of stones
  4. The community would also provide communal labour during the construction
We need an additional 30 bags of cement to supplement the efforts of the community members complete the culvert project.
I am hereby humbly appealing to all to contribute something little towards this noble project. No contribution is too little. We would appreciate both cash and kind donations.
Thank you so much in advance!
