Director for the School of Creative Arts (SoCA) at (AUCC), Dr Kwesi Owusu has mentioned that, Sarkodie is the true definition of a linguist.
Dr Kwesi Owusu who was recently appointed Director of the newly created School of Creative Arts (SoCA) at the African University College of Communications (AUCC) made it clear that, Sarkodie’s songs and lyrics are on point and has praised the artist for channeling peoples words and feeling through his music.
“When it comes to popular culture, I don’t think we pay attention. For me and my own Ghanaian historical interpretation of Ghanaian history; if you actually look at the act of the linguist, there is no better linguist in this country than Sarkodie. The way he puts his words and all of that… So when Sarkodie speaks, the whole nation should hear.” Dr Kwesi Owusu said
Interestingly, Dr Kwesi Owusu finds Shatta Wale’s reply to Sarkodie’s “Advice” song very interesting and childish for Shatta Wale to react to during his “Reign Album” launch where he went down to apologize to Shatta Wale.
“And whats also interesting is the response of this guy who thinks he is the king of the ghettos and couldn’t respond; because he is not used to that lyricism. You know what he did to grab attention, he knelt down infront of the stage and proposed to the girlfriend. He is lying, he doesn’t have the words”. He continued
Dr Owusu is the CEO of Creative Storm Ghana, a communications and social marketing company based in Accra. He is an associate of Cambridge University and author of four books on culture published by Routledge International.
He was nominated Personality of the Century by the Millennium Excellence Awards in 2006 and won the Entertainment Critics and Reviewers Association of Ghana (ECRAG) Cultural Ambassador award in 2008.
