MultiChoice Ghana’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Nii Armah Dagadu has given some ways Creative Arts people (Celebrities) can go about to solve the FDA ban on advertising alcohol.
Food and Drugs Authority in 2015 banned celebrities from advertising alcoholic beverages.
In finding solutions to the ban, Public Relations Officer, Nii Armah Dagadu has suggested that Ghanaian celebs should sit one on one with the Food and Drugs Authority and find possible solutions to the ban.
He went ahead to explain to Andy Dosty on DayBreak Hitz how the MultiChoice brand (DStv & GOtv) has dealt with advertising alcohol on their platforms with the FDA.
Celebrities and beverage companies can produce adverts without showing the drinking of alcohol and showing the main product. In islamic countries where they watch the champions league, where Heineken is a proud sponsor for the league, a Heineken is played there but we do not show the product or consumption of the product. So it is an international product serving international and local market, the local laws are respected so you find out that during a typical Heineken ad played, you don’t see people putting the product in their mouth because it will be against their laws. So what is have done is, engaged with the FDA and make them understand clearly. – GhKasa.com captured.
