Since August this year, the Glo Mega Shows, a number of comedy and musical shows, have thrilled patrons as they have hosted some of the biggest artistes and comedians in Africa.
Well, it will surprise you to know how Glo, organizers of the program addressed Ghanaian artistes in a document that Ghkasa.com chanced.
In the document which is an invitation given to one media house, organizers of the Glo Mega Music and Lafftafest concert literally addressed Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and other acts as local artistes leaving out the Nigerian artistes as they were showered with praises saying they are “International” acts.
See copy of the document below;
It is however clear that, Glo made a mockery of Ghanaian artistes who were billed to perform, despite paying them to perform, the organizers less regarded the reputation and level of the Ghanaian artistes who were billed to perform. This is very worrisome and we as an industry have to check and see how to solve issues like this.
However, Glo lined up a rich cast of eight artistes, unarguably the biggest and best collection of artists gathered by any corporate organisation to perform on one night. These included Wizkid, Stonebwoy, Samini, Yemi Alade, Tekno, Kofi Kinaata, MzVee and Diamond Platnumz.
Literally, one might argue that, since the Nigerian artists are coming to perform in another country, they should be referred to as “International” act and the home based artists should be referred to as “Local” artist. But in the case of Ghana and Nigeria, we expected Glo to fear and at least used a different phrase.
The fans were literally riotous, enthusiastically gobbling the performances and loving every minute of the tunes from the various artistes lined up by Glo for the night.
Saturday’s event was the fourth in the tapestry of five events organized by Glo Mobile to appreciate and entertain its subscribers.
