The first flight from the newly constructed Ho Airport flew to Accra on Thursday, April 15 amid funfair.
The construction of the airport in the Volta Region capital began in 2015 during the tenure of President John Dramani Mahama and completed in 2017 under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
But its commissioning was officially done after Africa World Airlines (AWA) launched its Accra-bound flight from the airport. According to officials, the airport is expected to boost tourism in the Volta Region.
The Africa World Airline (AWA) has completed its first commercial flight, with its Embraer 145 to the Ho Airport, landing at exactly 1419 hours with Captain Kwesi Oteng, Chief Operations Officer of the Airline being in charge.
AWA fly domestic to Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi and Wa as well as internationally to Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Cote D’Ivoire with its eight Embraer fleets.
