The 2017 Charter House VGMA came with a lot of controversies, one that broke the hearts of Ghanaians was Medikal’s 0/6. Joey B has also revealed how VGMA cheated him in 2017.
An award scheme that is prestigious to many in Ghana is the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. The 2017 VGMA had 22 categories with over 30 artistes to award there were lots of controversies surrounding some of the awards that were given out.
After a year of grief, Ghanaian musician Joey B has revealed how bad he felt after that fateful night when VGMA robbed him off what was clearly his. Joey B’s ‘U x Me’ was nominated in three categories, namely; Hiplife Artiste Of The Year, Afro Pop Song of The Year and Record Of The Year.
However things didn’t go in Joey’s favour in all categories but one that seems to be disturbing and eating the artiste up is the Record of The Year which was awarded to Adina’s ‘Too Late’.
According to the ‘Tonga’ hit maker who was on Andy Dosty’s show on HitzFm last week, he was so disappointed and hurt when the record of the year award was given to Adina. Though he admitted that Adina’s ‘Too Late’ song is a good song, he stated that the song was no match for his ‘U x Me’.
” ‘U x Me’ was a great song, but why wasn’t it awarded? That thing really hurt me it brought my spirit down. I like Adina’s song but her song can’t compete with ‘U x Me’ “, he said.
Joey further stated that what happened at the 2017 VGMA discouraged him from filing for a nomination in the 2018 VGMA.
He disclosed that his song, ‘U x Me’ was mastered 17 times before he was able to put it out there.
