Late Ghanaian gospel producer, King George Forest who died in 2016 after a short ailment has his son Junior Forest take over.
The late George Forest who produced most of our hit gospel music played on air and worked with great gospel musicians like Mama Esther, Ohemaa Mercy, Florence Obinim, Evangelist Diana Asamoah, and a host of others. He was tagged with the title “Magic fingers” because any song he worked on was an instant hit.
What made his style unique was his ability to play live guitar, bass and keyboard to songs all by himself. Also, his ability to add indigenous highlife rhythms and drums to songs made his works different from other producers.
It was such a blow when he passed on with all that talent and when his studio was alleged being sold, it was a big blow to many gospel musicians he worked. In sharp contrast, it wasn’t so. He had a son whose name is Junior Forest whom he had trained to be just like him has taken over his father’s studio.
Junior Forest who stayed with his Father all his life learnt the craft of sound engineering from his father. It is not surprising that the young boy of twenty produces records just like the late George Forest himself. In fact you couldn’t tell a difference between his father’s work and his work. Also just like his father, he is able to play the keyboard, lead and bass guitar and drums.
The Forests’ seem to have music encrypted in their blood.
