Miss Universe Ghana which was launched at the La Villa Boutique Hotel in Accra on Thursday, July 5 has selected it’s top 50 beauty pageants for this years show. The Miss Universe Ghana 2018 which had it’s audition with over 500 ladies representing various districts and towns in Ghana scrutinized “beautiful and intelligent” ladies at the La Villa Boutique Hotel in Accra on Saturday, August 4.
This year’s event will mark the 26th edition and has the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
In all, 15 ladies will be selected for the final event and Ghkasa.com is very sure that this year’s competition will bring a wealth of exposure to the contestants.
Last year 2017, Ruth Quashie, a Business Administration graduate who hails from the Central Region eclipsed 120 young women from across Ghana with her ‘confidence, attentiveness and beauty’ to win the coveted title.
Miss Universe Ghana whose slogan is Ghana’s Next Sweetheart is a national pageant that sends representatives to the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Ghana Organization franchised Miss Universe for Miss Ghana winner between 1991 and 1998.
Miss Universe Ghana was handled by R. Ayite Okyne took over the event directing and show production and eventually joined Juliette Korsah as National Director for the Miss Universe Ghana pageant. They relinquished the franchise in 2012 and are no longer involved in its operations. The highest achievement of Ghana is Miss Universe Ghana 1999 Akuba Cudjoe who placed as the Top 10 Finalist at the Miss Universe 1999.
In May 2017, Menaye Donkor (Miss Universe Ghana 2004) was appointed to be the new Miss Universe Ghana national director and Malz Productions.

Miss Universe Ghana 2018 Launched
Miss Universe Ghana was launched at the La Villa Boutique Hotel in Accra on Thursday, July 5 to start activities for 2018 edition of the pageant.
Speaking at the launch, head of Malz Promotions, Menaye Donkor Muntari, revealed the pageant will also be used to showcase Ghana’s tourism.
Contestants, she indicated, will be taking through tourism-oriented activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture to ensure the tourism sector receives the needed attention it deserves.
Menaye, a former Miss Universe queen, took over the organisation of the pageant last year. She and her team pulled out what she described as first class event which saw the crowning of Ruth Quarshie as the queen.
Ruth went on to make Ghana proud by making it to the top 16 stage of the world contest.
“Miss Universe Ghana has been an amazing experience. I won’t change it for anything in the world. Miss Universe has opened doors that would have not been opened for me before and it’s amazing. I will like to share that with anyone that is interested in experiencing the same thing,” Ruth said when NEWS-ONE asked about her experience as Miss Universe Ghana 2017.
This year’s pageant will be held in collaboration with the Multimedia Group. The main event is scheduled for September 15, where Miss Universe Ghana 2018 will be crowned.
Registration for the pageant can be applied by tertiary students and senior high school levers, Ghanaian women living in Ghana and throughout the diaspora between the ages of 18 and 25 years with a minimum height of 5’8 ft with no children, pregnant and not married.
Applicants must also possess a minimum of SHS certificate.
