Stand-Up and Actor, Comedian Waris Abdul Umaru, popularly known as Waris, is disappointed in how Ghanaian comedians cannot even crack jokes about political parties or politicians any longer.
According to him, aside from the fact that comedians are noted for humour, they also educate the public through satiric comments to release stress.
In an interview with Jibriel of Vibe With Jibriel on Y3 Kasa Tv, said even though some Ghanaians find it offensive, it won’t stop him from cracking jokes of Political Parties and their leaders.
I’m a comedian also and I know what we are going through. We can’t make political jokes without been seen one sided. There is no freedom now for us comedians.
When asked if he as a Comedian Waris will continue to crack jokes about politicians and political parties, the comedian stated he won’t hide from it since he has to entertain his fans.
You know, we all crack jokes about Politics. There thing is that, we didn’t get the platform that will make people angry about such jokes but we will make them angry. Fans or Ghanaians shouldn’t expect to limit us anyway, because I am going to make them more angry with Political jokes.
