The thirst for political power is one thing that is obvious among the various political parties in Ghana. No political party wishes to be in opposition since they know the outcome.
The pain of being in opposition can be unbearable. When a party is being in opposition for quite a long time, they feel like giving up.
The majority leader of parliament, Osei Kyei Menash Bonsu has come out with a controversy. The minister for parliamentary has come out to caution his fellow party members about being united. The member of parliament for Suame constituency made his worry known when he addressed an NPP delegates’ conference at his constituency.
He made it clear that if his people are not united, they will remain in opposition for twelve (12) years, that is three consecutive terms should they lose the upcoming 2024 elections.
“We said we want to break the eight but breathen, if we do not come together, breaking the eight will noy be impossible. We will go into opposition for not less than twelve (12) years. Breaking the eight is not just about talking but we need to work hard in order to achieve what we are wishing for”. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu advised.
He ensured that the NPP government led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is doing everything possible to make sure the country is well developed, hence urged for unity among all party members.
A lot of people have reacted to what the majority said. Looking at how the support for who would be the flagbearer for the next NPP government has brought a sort of division among the party members, do you think Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu’s cautioning would be of any help?
