I am rubbishing the BBC’s documentary – Gifty Anti regrets for commenting on sekx for grades documentary

Gifty Anti, Sex For Grades

Yesterday, Ghanaian broadcast journalist Gifty Anti waded in on the ongoing debate about BBC Africa’s upcoming investigative documentary on sekxual halassment at prestigious universities in West Africa.

In a report by Pulse Ghana, it was stated that, Gifty Anti flipped the narrative, saying some female lecturers are also culprit. This was taken from a post she made yesterday on her instagram post.

A CALL FOR CURE NOW
By Oheneyere Gifty Anti.
In fact we have long gone pass the period of Naming and Shaming.
And I am glad, some are boldly doing it now.
Sex for Grades in Tertiary institutions and you are shocked? Are you kidding me?
My dear, it is happening in primary, JHS and SHS. It started long ago and when we talked about it we were told we are ‘demonizing’ teachers and lecturers.
Listen, there are very good teachers/lecturers and I have male and female tutors who give me information all the time, about what is going on.
I am tempted to post the recent one about some teachers in a school in the Brong/Ahafo area who actually ‘share’ the Primary 6 girls before they get to JHS 1. So by the time they get there, the teachers know ‘who belongs to who’. Such nonsense. Such evil.
And oh by the way, it’s not only male teachers who demand sex for grades. Some female teachers do same. And the victims of such demonic people in authority are both male and female.
So yes, some male and female teachers and lecturers and ‘bosses’ are demanding sex from both male and females.
We are in trouble, because we have given too much power to teachers and lecturers to determine the destiny of our young ones.
We base potential success in life on what grades you get while in school. So some of these tutors hold our young ones hostage.
Our country is sick and we need to find a cure, RIGHT NOW.

After the news went round, Gifty has stated she has however regretted for making that post and further went ahead to say she didn’t mean what was circulating but was misinterpreted.

This morning on her instagram post, she mentioned and titled her write up as “One of my regrets yesterday. Smh”.

Read her post;

One of my regrets yesterday. Smh

So yesterday, I wrote extensively about this sex for grades issue and how we have talked about it over the years but no one listened until BBC did this documentary.
In one of my write ups I talked about how even children in primary and JHS and SHS are being abused sexually in exchange for grades.
And then also drew our attention to the fact that both male and female students are being abused by both male and female teachers.
Pulse.com decided that the best headline to give the write up is ‘Some female teachers also abuse male students – Gifty Anti’. Making it seem as though I am rubbishing ladies being abused for grades.
They didn’t see the part about PUPILS IN PRIMARY, JHS AND SHS being abused!!! And now Hitz fm and the likes are taking that twist too, using me as the ‘authority’. Smh.
No problem, but how does some female tutors abusing boys justify male tutors abusing female students? How?

Anyway, so now I guess I never have to say anything in support of or affecting males again 🤭

I will soon speak on Adom on this issue.

How can this write up 👇🏾mean I am rubbishing the documentary?
