Members of Ghana’s Parliament have once again received sad news. One of their members has been involved in a serious road accident.

The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Dafeamekpor Etse Rockson Nelson was returning from the North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region where he together with other MP’s accompanied Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to mourn his bereaved family member.

He was heading towards Accra when a Kia Truck vehicle loaded with cement crossed his car. The vehicle of the Member of Parliament was forced into an accident. It rolled over several times and landed on the side of the road. The car could be seen lying down helplessly with its four tyres hanging towards the skies.

Residents who were around at the moment managed to quickly help the Member of Parliament and other occupants of the vehicle out. They quickly rushed the Member of Parliament who sustained minor injuries to the nearby hospital and he is currently receiving treatment.

The Good news is that honorable Dafeamekpor Etse Rockson Nelson who is also a member of the Constitutional, Legal and parliamentary affairs and Judicial Committees is doing well as doctors are managing his condition.

Some men could be seen trying to turn the black vehicle again t its normal position. It is unknown what happened to the truck driver but it is clear that his vehicle was not seriously hit. The prayers of many are that the Member of Parliament and any other person involved will be treated and discharged.

The sad situation has made some Ghanaians bring back the debate of how road accidents are killing innocent lives. The Member of Parliament involved in this accident has been saved by the Grace of God but some persons have died in other road accidents.

Obviously, the truck driver or the driver of the Member of Parliament was careless on the road and that might have caused the accident. The fight against road accidents is a collaborative one and we must all come together to preach against it.
