Executive member of FIPAG, Bob Smith Junior, popularly known as Diabolo claims he suggested and informed industry players on the name Ghollywood for Ghana’s movie industry.
His statement is a reaction to that of the president of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana, Richard Boateng, a.k.a Mr India.

Richard Boateng states that the name was arrived at after a discussion in a meeting between members of various film associations.
Bob Smith Jnr however explained that the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) had to disassociate itself from the rebranded name because Richard Boateng (Mr India) seems to be fronting ideas for himself but portraying to be as that of the entire industry.
“It actually came out of me. It was a trend most of the other film industries in other countries were using. So we came out with certain names including Ghanywood since Ghallywood and Kumawood are for individuals. So we decided that if we had a wood that would hold all of them under the umbrella that would just be okay. So we made several suggestions. Idikoko brought Ghollywood and we brought it to our whatsapp platform, we debated and chose Ghollywood. This was three years ago”, he said.
He also revealed that Mr India misspelt the new name ‘Gollywood’ in an attempt to register the name Ghollywood for the entire movie industry.
He also alleged that Mr India is a liar and has now become a schemer in the industry and in the eyes of most industry players.
