We’re excited to announce the drop of Yaw Appiah’s EP ‘Ubomi’ on Monday, November 23rd.
Being a Tema-native Yaw exposes a different sound to the Ghanaian music space. He says
“It’s an amazing journey to produce and introduce the diverse sounds of Africa. The continent has more to offer than Afrobeats, Kizomba, Alté and further, Amapiano is an evolving genre originated from the streets of Gauteng, South Africa.”
A hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music, Amapiano is a must to explore for all music lovers who like the sounds of synths, airy pads and wide basslines.
The seven track EP features contributions from South-African artist Msheke, Grammy nominated producer Stylolive, Ghanaian artist Izzy Zick, as well as Queensley Felix, Diya, Lindie Mzobe, Ogeezy, and Phoxion.
Yaw reveals that ‘Ubomi’ is an invitation to his life and focuses on the importance of love, joy and peace for humanity. He further says that most lyrics include the Zulu language as he wanted to keep the origin of the sound original.
