Akwaboah passes away after short illness

News has it that, Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior, father of renowned Ghanaian musician, songwriter and producer, Akwaboah Jnr has passed.

Mr. Akwaboah Senior passed away on Monday, 16th May 2023, after a short illness. He was a prominent member of the Ghanaian music industry and was an inspiration to many aspiring artists.

In a post on social media, Akwaboah Jnr made a post of his father with the caption “RIP DADDY”.

Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior was a talented guitarist and often played with some of Ghana’s great musicians, including the late C.K. Mann and Rex Owusu Marfo. He was also a member of the legendary Ghanaian Highlife band, the Oheneba Ntim Barima Band.

Akwaboah Jnr, who was signed to SarkCess Music, has often cited his father as one of his major influences and has paid tribute to him in several of his songs.

The funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course. The Ghanaian music industry has lost a true gem, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. May the soul of Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior rest in perfect peace.
