Ghana Association of Banks launches #ShineYourEye Anti-Fraud roadshow in Tamale
The Ghana Association of Banks (GAB), through its ongoing #ShineYourEye Anti-Fraud Campaign, has held its first public roadshow in Tamale as part of efforts to strengthen public awareness and education on fraud prevention across Ghana’s banking sector.
The roadshow, organised in collaboration with the Association’s 24 member banks, forms part of a nationwide public sensitisation campaign designed to equip Ghanaians with the knowledge and practical tools needed to identify, prevent, and report fraudulent activities.
The float began at the Tamale Jubilee Park and moved through several major parts of the metropolis, including Lamashegu, Tamale Central Market, Zorgbele, and Abuabo Market, before returning to the starting point.
Over four hours, campaign representatives engaged residents, traders, commuters, and members of the public with educational messages on emerging fraud trends, common scam tactics, and practical steps to protect personal and financial information from fraudsters.
The initiative reflects the banking industry’s collective commitment to tackling financial fraud through sustained public education and community engagement. Organisers noted that empowering customers with knowledge remains one of the most effective ways to reduce fraud and strengthen confidence in Ghana’s banking system.
The Tamale activation marks the first in a series of planned public engagements under the #ShineYourEye Anti-Fraud Campaign, with similar awareness activities expected to be rolled out across the country.
The campaign’s next public roadshow is scheduled to take place in Kumasi next month as the Association continues its nationwide drive to promote fraud awareness and financial security.
The #ShineYourEye Anti-Fraud Campaign encourages the public to remain vigilant, verify suspicious requests, safeguard personal banking information, and promptly report suspected fraudulent activities to their banks or the appropriate authorities.
