Jonathan Majors’ strategic new relationship with Meagan Good

Jonathan Majors has recently been spotted out and about with his rumored girlfriend, Meagan Good, and social media users are reacting to his new relationship.

It was expected that the rumors of them dating would spark so much conversation. Given what has happened with Jonathan over the past few months, which Sarah wrote about here, it is the last thing anyone could have predicted.

Most people believed that he would keep quiet and focus on repairing his public image, much like the majority of disgraced celebrities do. The main topic of debate is not necessary that he is dating a new woman, but rather who that woman is.

However, he has recently appeared with a new girlfriend, which may be part of his image maintenance.

Meagan Good is a star in her own right, so it works both ways. It certainly is a wonder that she would pick Jonathan Majors to be the first man she dated after her divorce from DeVon Franklin in 2021 given his successful acting and modeling career that spans more than two decades and his current role on the hit program Harlem.

She really increased the ante on social media after her divorce, publishing more suggestive images and videos, something she avoided when married to DeVon, a pastor.

She shared this seductive video in honor of her 41st birthday to show that age is just a number. And for her and Jonathan, who is approaching ten, that appears to ring true.

Meagan is said to have offered assistance to Jonathan at the beginning of their relationship, particularly in relation to the abuse claims. The couple’s connection was described as “fairly new” by a source who also said that they had “gotten close” during the preceding few weeks, which by all accounts had been a tumultuous period for him, in the original report from TMZ earlier this month.

There are so many factors involved in this. But racism is the main issue. I enjoy discussing race, so I don’t do it as frequently as I should. I discuss race so frequently because it permeates so many facets of our culture, and because I am racialized, I feel obligated to explore and emphasize the subtleties of it.

A woman who has been assumed to be white has accused Jonathan of assault. Although statistics show that Black women are more likely to experience domestic violence, I can’t tell you how many comments I saw after the claims were made that implied this is what occurs when Black men date white women. Many users concurred when this user pointed out how frequently that narrative is used.

Finding data and proof of how many Black men support Black women more frequently, especially in the wake of white women’s abuse charges or when their reputation is at risk, is a difficult assignment. However, have faith and know that Jonathan Majors is not the first Black guy to turn to a Black lady for support when he is in need.

None of this suggests that Meagan is only appealing to him now that he is, to use the cliché, “desperate,” But it’s to show how much he is already getting from having her right there with him as this all happens.

The first benefit stems from how Black women are viewed in society and how he gains from her sheer presence. Iyanla: Fix My Life featured an interview with three Black guys who were opposed to dating Black women. One of the guys stated that it was because of their “strong personalities” and “inability to stay in a woman’s place,” and he further questioned, “Why are Black women so angry?”

In spite of the negative impact this stereotype has had on Black women’s personal and professional life around the world, in this case Jonathan stands to gain because he is presenting Meagan as more of a “equal” partner. He is not flaunting anything about.

She is helpful to him in a second way because of her advanced age. As soon as the pictures were posted online, people started calling her a cougar in the comments.

Given that Jonathan is a big, hulking Black man, people may assume that he is trying to minimize his size in any manner and everywhere in order to dispel the false impression that the claims have painted of him.

After these allegations, he would appear even bigger and Blacker if he were out and about with a small white girl; however, he is out and about with an older Black woman who exudes confidence and has no qualms about projecting that image.

Despite the reality that there is no standard “look” for domestic violence victims and they arrive in all different sizes and shapes, she is the antithesis of what society perceives as a victim.

When we were asked if the image was racist, I first learned about this in a media studies class. No, at first glance, but the conversation that followed has stayed with me my entire life.

“America has decided to elevate a Black woman to the vice presidency just as the country has been humiliated and on its knees. Harris must now help save a deeply polarized America ailing from a deadly pandemic and a shattered economy.”

While Meagan may be doing him a favour, the same can’t be said for her. She’s losing a lot of respect from fans, old and new, over her decision to support Jonathan during this time. And with her life and career seemingly taking off in what some may consider a post-divorce glow up, or second act, it would be a shame for her to go down with what looks like maybe a sinking ship.
